To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. – Ecclesiastes 3:1
Just like summer turns to fall, our relationships move through their own seasons. Some grow deeper roots, others change shape, and a few come to an end. These shifts aren’t always easy, but they often make space for us to grow into who we’re meant to be.

Relationship Shifts
Think about the ways relationships have changed in your own life. Sometimes it happens slowly, almost without us noticing.
🔇 The Quiet Drift: A once-close bond fades as life pulls you in different directions. It can feel bittersweet, but often it’s a gentle letting go.
Other times, the change feels sharper.
🚫 The Necessary Ending: A friendship, family tie, or even a partnership may become draining, toxic, or simply no longer aligned with your growth. Choosing to walk away can hurt, yet it’s also an act of self-care.
And then there are moments that feel the hardest to accept.
🐍 The Strain of Jealousy: As you grow, not everyone will grow with you. Some may struggle to celebrate your wins, leaving you with the ache of realizing a bond is shifting. As painful as it is, it also teaches us that the right people will always root for us without hesitation.
Practical Guidance
So how do you know when to hold on and when to let go? It often comes down to boundaries.
- Set Boundaries: They protect your peace and reveal whether a connection can adapt.
- Trust Your Gut: Notice how you feel after time together. Uplifted or depleted, supported or judged?
- Exit Gracefully: If respect is missing, allow distance without guilt. Some people belong in a season, not your whole story.
