âFocus on understanding your environment; people, spaces, and energy.â
Situational awareness is more than just noticing whatâs going on around you. Itâs understanding how those surroundings affect your emotions, decisions, and peace of mind. Itâs the awareness that helps you read a room, sense shifts in energy, and recognize when something (or someone) is off.
Even though I work from home, Iâve realized how much my daily interactions and work environment can still disrupt my peace. To add on to what I mentioned last week, when I lost touch with my own self-awareness, I started shutting people out just to find some sense of calm. It worked for a while, but I eventually learned that peace built on isolation isnât real peace. Itâs survival.
Everything started to shift after I completed the EQ-i 2.0 assessment and reviewed my results with a facilitator. It felt like holding up a mirror and finally seeing myself â including the blind spots I didnât know existed. Iâd been working on myself for years, but this felt like the real starting point that gave my growth direction.
A Black Lady Tip âđŸ
đ EQ-i 2.0 Assessment
The EQ-i 2.0 assessment is often used in the workplace, but its real power shows up in everyday life. It helps you understand how your emotions shape your decisions, relationships, and overall peace; areas that touch every part of self-improvement: health, wealth, and love.
By revealing how you manage stress, communicate, and connect with others, it provides a clear picture of your emotional strengths and blind spots. For Black women especially, itâs a tool that encourages growth without judgment. Thus, helping us build balance, confidence, and deeper self-trust.
For me, the EQ-i 2.0 wasnât just an assessment. It was a mirror. It showed me where I needed to grow and gave me a starting point to truly heal and evolve.

One thing the assessment made clear was how deeply my environment affected my happiness. I knew my surroundings were draining me, but seeing it reflected in my scores. Especially my âHappinessâ score (which gave grinch vibes); it helped me understand just how much my emotional well-being was tied to my environment.
The good thing about emotional intelligence (EQ) is that it can be developed. You can make changes to raise your EQ, strengthen your relationships, and build peace that doesnât depend on whoâs around you or whatâs happening that day.
This awareness helps us navigate relationships more wisely â a key pillar of emotional intelligence.
